I spent the whole day today walking to and from downtown Cheongju.
I wanted to figure out how long of a walk it would be to my school. i walked to my school yesterday but i was sightseeing and stopping in at stores. so far:

walking: 30-45 mins
taxi: 5-8 mins 3,200-3,400won one way
bus: TBD im still intimidated by this. i attempted twice to take the bus but chickened out at the last minute.

i get to meet the school staff and principal tomorrow. im pretty nervous! i need to prepare an introduction. i guess im taking the taxi to school in the morning. i have to be there at 9 but im planning to be there by 830 just in case of traffic or something.

the first taxi driver i had was nice! he spoke fair english and gave me some lotte chocolate candies! he asked me if i was married and then chuckled when i said i graduated and was going to be an english teacher. lol

the 2nd taxi driver spoke supremely little english and spoke to me in korean but all i could say was “ihaega an dwaeyo” which basically means “i dont understand”.

earlier today i was trying to find an iron to iron my clothes. i wrote the word iron in hanguel and showed it to the guy in the store and he showed me a piece of iron metal. lol i still need to buy an iron.

i also had to buy an umbrella bc it rained today. weird. it was super sunny yesterday.

i used the washer last night. it was pretty easy. there are all these pre-set options all ready. i just picked the one that would take 30mins to wash. i realized i didnt have any detergent so i quickly went downstairs to the convenience store at the corner of my street. i made sure i knew what laundry detergent was in korean. its setag seje. my washer sings. :]
