A group of us decided to go to Happy World, an amusement park in Yangon right across from the Shwe Dagon Pagoda.

It was Christiaan and Yoreh’s (blame it on the Dutch!) idea and we all sorta just wanted a day to chill and relax a bit before the group split up.

Even before you enter the building, there are a bunch of random statues that featured some famous characters. We were all pretty excited to be there so we completely forgot to look for the weird looking Teletubbies…
There were a lot of carnival games and video games. I didn’t play any since I just wanted to go on the bumper cars which we ended up doing 3 times. The third time was free. Yes! When the 2nd round finished we were in the process of getting out of our cars when the operator told us to just stay in for another round. That was super nice of him. I think he did it because we really were smashing into each other and I’m sure everyone else was enjoying watching the foreigners get bumped around. I didn’t realize that we were all realllly going at it until I noticed how bruised my knee became a few hours later. Again, I blame the Dutch! haha

We went inside a mirror maze which was really fun only because we were all trying to scare each other. At one point we all sort of got turned around and were a bit confused for a bit. There was a horror train that we weren’t allowed to take photos in. It wasn’t that horrifying. It wasn’t even scary for me and that’s saying something since EVERYTHING in the dark scares me haha

We all got massaged by these massage chairs. It was both relaxing and painful at the same time. The massage lasted for 30 minutes and it was a bit weird because there was a window where passersby could look in. I was directly in front of that window and I could tell when someone peeped in because the shadows behind my closed eyelids would darken. I think we sort of ruined the experience for the locals because we were being chatty tourists the entire time... whooops

This park was really fun especially with the right group of people. After spending a few hours there we (Christiaan, Yoreh, Jenna and I) decided to just chill in the park while Joel and Josh went to the Shwe Dagon Pagoda. The conversations that took place at the park were both hilarious, meaningful and deep. Fun times!
