Philip and I had this crazy idea to walk to the Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda (Reclining Buddha) one day.

It was not the smartest thing we did. This was further out than the Shwe Dagon Pagoda. It took about an hour to get there and it was really hot and humid! We got confused a few times on where to turn but nothing too far out of the way. We were drenched in sweat by the time we got to the pagoda.

This Pagoda is known for its enormous 65 meters long and 16 meters high Reclining Buddha image. It's apparently bigger than the one in Bangkok. I saw the one in Bangkok but I wouldn't know which was bigger..

The coolest and most interesting thing out of the entire pagoda for me were the soles of the Buddha. The soles of the feet contain 108 segments in red and gold colors that show images representing the 108 lakshanas or auspicious characteristics of the Buddha.

After looking around, Philip and I sat in front of a pillar and people watched. It was nice to just sit and cool off before heading out. Our next destination was the Shwe Dagon Pagoda.
