My friends from Daegu are thrill seekers so I wasn't surprised when they asked me to go shark dive with them. I can't swim or float. I can only do a pretty decent backstroke. Weird. I know. We booked a reservation and on one sunny weekend and made the trip to Busan.
The Busan Aquarium is located right on beautiful Haeundae Beach. The entire experience for non--certified divers was 110,000 Won which included the training. The aquarium where we did the dive was a 3 million liter, 5 meter deep, main tank of the Busan Aquarium.

The shark dives are conducted by a fully insured PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer who is in teaching status. That's a relief. He's also a foreigner. I forget where he's from. We were shown this short video clip and afterwards, we were required to sign our life away.

We then proceeded to change into our scuba gear and train in shallow-deep water.

The entire thing took about 6hours which included the training. Actual dive time was about 30mins. Why so long and so short? We were a big group so the trainer had to take us in two groups. First the guys.

Then the girls.

Making my way down to the tank and stopping every so often to pop my ears.
The sharks weren't too bad. They stayed out of our way and just did their own thing. We saw blacktip reef sharks, whitetip reef sharks and sand tiger sharks.

It was the Queensland giant groupers that we had to watch out for. They're the ones that can eat you whole.
We got up close and personal with short-tail stingrays, spotted eagle rays and various other sea creatures. Afterwards, we were starving so we all went to eat and then later on, Haeundae Beach. We stayed up all night making human pyramids, drinking and of course, lighting up fireworks. It was a pretty awesome beach weekend.
