- Caribbean Bay

Caribbean Bay is an indoor/outdoor water park located in Yongin, South Korea. Opened in 1996 and apparently it is the largest indoor/outdoor water park in the world..

One of my student teachers took me to Caribbean Bay with her family. It was really nice of her! They also paid for everything! It was her way of wanting to expose her daughters to a native english speaker.
This place was PACKED!
They had various water activities you can do. The most popular ones were the water slides, surfing and this thing called the wave.
The wave is basically that, a giant wave that rolls every 5-10mins. What happens is, everyone gathers in strategic areas. If you just wanna ride the wave like a driftboard, then you would head the where the beginning of the wave would be (not much excitement there).
If you want to be more adventurous and daredevily, then you would stand before the green painted area. Which is where the wave ends and you get splashed the most. In the last photo, you can see my student teacher and one of her daughters in the pink vests
If anyone goes, dont be surprised to: walk barefoot on the entire park, wear a life vest at all times even if you know how to swim, showers are communal but separated by sex (of course), the only place where you can see super tanned koreans who are not covered up and hiding from the sun, you buy stuff with a bar code bracelet that keeps a running tab and you pay for it when you leave the park. Pretty awesome not to worry about money getting wet. Ingenious.
