- Sule Pagoda
Mar 31, 2015
The Sule Pagoda is located in the heart of downtown Yangon. It was supposedly built before the Shwe Dagon Pagoda.
According to Burmese legend the site where the Sule pagoda now stands was once the home of a powerful nat (spirit) named Sularata (the Sule Nat).
Sabrina and I decided to visit this pagoda on our way to Chinatown and to the Bokyoke Market. I had passed it during the day and at night a few times but this was the first time I was going inside. It was definitely a lot smaller than the Shwe Dagon but still nice. Wandered around for a bit. There wasn't much to see and most of the things there, we had already seen at the Shwe Dagon. It was nice to get out of the sun though.
