I did this tour of Chiang Rai because I wanted to see the White Temple. It was only supposed to be the White Temple, some hot spring and visitng a Karen Village.
I wasn’t too interested in the Golden Triangle. Sure it sounds cool and all but I was already going to go to Laos and I plan on visiting Myanmar during my backpacking trip. Turns out everyone on our minivan (except Suk and I) had paid the extra to do the Golden Triangle bit. Soooo we kinda got suckered (kinda) to do it too. I mean what were we going to do at the docks for 2 hours anyways? There was NOTHING there!
So we got on a long boat, wore the Captain Asia life jackets and took part in the tour. It was alright, nothing too special.

We saw Laos Vegas, a giant Buddha on the Thailand side, a resort on the Myanmar side and then we docked at the Laos side on called Donsao where there was a lot of vendors selling stuff.
We walked around and saw some various snake alcohol. There was also one with a turtle and bull’s penis. One of the guys on our minivan tried the penis one and the jokes never stopped. Hahaha

We (Monika, Suk, Liz and I) didn’t try any of them. Instead we all got ice cream. After a while we got back on the boat and back to the minivan.

We also stopped at the Myanmar/Thailand crossing at the northern most point of Thailand. After a few minutes there we got back on the minivan and headed to the last stop: Karen Village.

After the Karen Village it was time to head back to Chiang Mai.
